Sure there are some gems, like Legacy of Kain - Blood Omen and Final Fantasy Tactics, which showed up recently, but I really want to get into the King's Field PSOne classics. I've been torturing myself with my Media Go set to the Japanese Playstation store, and I do have a valid (heh, I originally typed Vallad) Japanese Playstation store account. All that I need is some yen and I could have ALL these gems on my PSP. (legally even) Well, anyway, I ordered a 3000 Yen Playstation Network card from play-asia. I should have it soon. When it comes, I'll buy King's Field I, II, III, Shadow Tower and probably Mega Man 2 or some other vintage PSOne game. (that will probably be a mega man game) I think there might be some benefits to getting the Japanese versions of the games. I'm curious how the prologues will be different. Rather than that American actor growling "BRIGHTLY DOES THE LIGHT BURN WITHIN YOUR HEART AUSTIN LYLE FORRESTER!", I get to hear some asian man growl, "CHO GING SHIMONG SHEE RING" - who am I kidding. I don't know Japanese and if there's growling.... ____________________________ Update! I got my card, I bought King's Field II, III, Shadow Tower, Mega Man 2 and Deception 3.... and put them on my PSP. I've only played a little bit of Shadow Tower, but it looks, acts and PLAYS amazingly!!!! Its really neat how the smaller screen improves some PSOne game graphics - this is definitely one of those games! Happy ending, right?! Not entirely. See, I can only play these games from the Japanese store with my Japanese certificate (from my Japanese account) by the Japanese Playstation Store. The humdinger is that PSPs can only support one certificate/account for the time being. So if I'm playing US games and want to play King's Field, or playing King's Field and want to play my US games, I have to go through this painstaking process. Delete Account from PSP from Account Management (hit triangle) Log In (user e-mail and password) for the region. System activation > Game > and pick yes. to get the certificate. ...all via WI-FI. Its just as easy to Delete my MediaGo 1.2 preferences and credentials from the registry, Start MediaGo Pick a new region and start a download I've already bought. It will prompt and replace the certificate. The certificate is all that matters in playing the games. BAH! Pain in butt, but worth having these games by hand held means. (even if they aren't in English, I've gone through them so many times, that doesn't matter.) Probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage. I wonder if Agetec has even considered releasing the KF games on the PSN. They threw a decent amount of games at the store in may, KoF99, Bowling, R-type Delta, and KoF99 was in the top 10 downloads list for a few weeks. if Bowling can get put up there, why not KF? then again, Agetec could have submitted these games, and Sony just isnt putting them up yet. possibly metering the releases out themselves? Capcom said Resident Evil 2 and 3, along with a ton of other PS1 games were coming to the service, but since RE1 back in what, june? there hasnt been any capcom titles added. Maybe all this stuff is being held back in favor of a big selection in the first week of october for the release of the PSPGo. I dunno Mark, if you read this, PLEASE throw us a bone. tell us if you're going to be adding any more PS1 games to the PSN. there's a lot that would be awesome to see there. KF1, KF2, Shadow Tower, Rising Zan, all three Armored Cores, RPG Maker, come on. PLEEEEEAAAAASE. I and many others would love to rebuy these games to throw on the PSP. just portable RPG Maker 1 alone would fill me with joy. and I think the market for something as insane as rising zan is actually better now than it was back in the late 90's. and KF? with atlus bringing demon's souls to the states, there's gonna be interest in the roots of the "spiritual successor to king's field". --------------------------------------- Last Edited By: Valkysas 09/20/09 09:58:16. Not a total flop, but not super popular. This series is probably at the end of SONY's list for must have PSN releases. I'm not expecting to see any of them anytime soon, sadly.

Posts: 837 (09/20/09 13:08:53) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I certainly hope that since some of the games are trademarked to "Ascii Entertainment" that Agetec won't hesitate to play whatever part it is to get those games to the Playstation Store. ....myself, and other PSP players I'm sure, would appreciate any bones thrown Mark. Even the Japanese Playstation store doesn't even have anything from the Armored Core series. That's odd. My luck, I'll buy the King's Fields and Shadow Tower and the week after, they'll show up one by one. I just realized that the Japanese Playstation Store had Deception III. I REALLY liked that game - I'm just wondering how playable it would be without the English language though. I know I won't have any problems with the King's Fields and Shadow Tower. It would be interesting to see if there are actually any differences. I vaguely remember game shark codes for Japanese items in the US version - which I guess were fairly obsolete? Probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage.

Also the beginning vid differences on the games are next to unnoticeable, it is simply some timing and lack of extra parts of the music. The US releases had more in the cut scenes than the japanese ones did, so all you will see is less of the game on the japanese version.

A foot note on the website: With this game, items with the name of "A" were blocked out in the American version, and given the name "A" to save space. I have no idea what these items do, any feedback would help. There are 4 "A" codes in King's Field I US, and there are 19 "A" codes in King's Field II US. Unfortunately, they don't have but a handful of codes for the Japanese II and III counterparts. Back in the day, I used these A codes with my gameshark CD, and most were pallet swaps of already existing items - just different sizes. I vaguely remember a lightning ring type item and a coin item in King's Field II though. However, another word for "blocked" is "disabled". Every "A" item is in the item menu with a "nothing happens" for the response. That's what I'm basing my "extra items" on. We'll see after I play through them. ______________________ I watched the movie parts of a speed run and it looked like the cut scenes from King's Field III were all there. Probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage.

In both the US and Japanese version of the game (talking about the melanat one) there are several versions of a single item that i cant explain, say for instance 2 different model files that look like the long sword and two different models that are clearly the seath's sword. The models do exist in the american disk, and I am not certain what they are referring to as "A". My bet would be that the item models existed in both versions but were never added to the games in either the US or Japan...but I guess we will find out!
