Well, I left the dungeon, went back to town and the guy I fought was dead. I could now pick up the dark slayer! Its quite powerful, and the sword magic is by far my most powerful spell.

I'm still not really sure where to go next. All this took place in a castle type area - I found and activated a teleporter, but all that did was take me to the entrance of the castle.... it was a shortcut means, not a new area means.

There's one puzzle that I'm having difficulties with. It has a really ornate picture of angels, flames, and four buttons that toggle 5 different pictures. If I did my math right, that makes the possible combinations over 3,000.

I'm out of ideas - I've placed the buttons that I thought correlated best to the picture. I'm not sure if this is my path to go on, but there's a locked door and a sealed door close to this puzzle. The map doesn't say anything else, but that doesn't mean much.

....I'm hoping that there's a sealed door that the Dark Slayer opens that I have perhaps overlooked.

Through my fumblings across the internet, I discovered that the hint to the puzzle I'm stuck on is given by the poet in the bar.
Well, I can't understand him.

I found the answer on a Japanese WIKI site (at least, I believe its the answer) but Google and Babelfish give the text back to me in an Engrish nightmare.

鎖錠の険路のパズルを右上を太陽、右下を水、左下を風、左上を月にすると古の祭壇へ、右上を火、右下を月、左下を太陽、左上を太陽にすると賢者の深奥へ行ける。

If anyone is fluent in Japanese and wouldn't mind parting with the translation of that, I would be VERY grateful.

Heh. Kind of beat the game by accident. Slaughtered Guyra (which took a LONG time - man did they improve the look of him!) and end credits. YAY!
It was kind of weird - the ending was more the sword's than the character's... (the Dark Slayer that is) I'm positive that can't be all there is.

Eh, I still have other areas to explore, not to mention, I haven't even found the moonlight sword. (I know its in the game)

Those repair weapon looking rocks at the store are actually blood stones (according to a Japanese FAQ) ARGH! I wish I would have known that before I got cool stuff that prevents status effects.

Some thief in the market place sold me a key to every door I could dream of for 30000G. Ouch. I thought I was rolling in the dough until I bought that and some 20000G leggings - then I was virtually broke.

Thanks to that key, I found some great things! For one, a healing fountain to completely recover in the dungeon and fill my flasks. (heh, gold potion looks like pee in a bottle!) I've found quite a few more spells in locked doors... I found a really awesome dark based attack spell that has low magic cost, but is quick and really effective in battle!

This other area I'm exploring has tougher enemies than in the area where I found Guyra. Not to mention, they appear more frequently. The area is a dense and complicated network of cave walls and I have yet to find a map.

Alas, here I am at level 65, and I believe I'm at the end of the road.

I've pieced together the rest of the menus, something that will be detailed in the GameFAQs FAQ I'm writing.

The moonlight sword apparently comes from a "searching man", but on my game he's a corpse on the ground. I probably missed something.

After I completed the game, I've been reading up on that Japanese FAQ (well, more like looking at it than reading it).

I might do a thin comb over for things I've missed.

The walkthrough says that in Additional II, there is a man that gives you the moonlight sword in the 10th map. ...it mentions that you can't get the sword from him if he's dead, and naturally, he's a corpse in my game.

I'm thinking along the lines of what you were. Perhaps a data convert is what I need to get the moonlight sword. I was almost under the impression that I wouldn't get to keep my stuff, but that circumstances would be different in the game?

I ordered Additional I (and it should be here this week) and I'll do some tests with the Data Convert on Additional II to see what it really does.

I know a data convert allows for a LOT more selections in the store. I think there might be the shovel factor as well.

I think its neat how just like the PSOne King's Fields, the different games have emphasis on the different swords. The Dark Slayer is the main destroyer, with the Moonlight Sword as an extra on King's Field Additional II and King's Field I US. As for the levels, I could play games differently than you. I had it beat mid 50's, but with my extra exploring, I ended up Level 65.
Also, you might not be on the last floor. ^_^

Heh, yeah. That makes perfect sense. I figured that out about the key items almost through Additional II. At least they're not a requirement and keys are used automatically. I did manage to place these "spheres" close to where I fought that "dragon" (which I'm guessing is Guyra) by using that key-items menu. Disabled some traps.

That Japanese FAQ, he said he beat the game in 40 hours at Level 47.

I could always tell I was getting equipment or a key item whenever I heard that fading dingdingdingding.... normal items wouldn't make that noise.

I'm wondering how much of the games are similar to each other. I kind of hope that the dungeon's aren't identical.... but then again, I would imagine a remix of what I've already played to be pretty cool.

On that japanese strategy guide, it says there are 13 maps for Additional I, the same number as Additional II. Some of them have different names though, but some names I recognized from the Additional II map.

Looks like I'm mistaken. The Dark Slayer isn't in Additional I, according to this FAQ. Why do I find that hard to believe?

KFA1's story setup list the bad guy as the "Robber King" and it takes place "Ten years after the trouble in Verdite, when the powerful force that had tried to try to destroy the seed of man disappeared from the world". The story setup for KFA2 just mentions a fear that the "King" had returned presumably meaning the Robber King. Of course, I don't really know who the bosses were; I'm just speculating.

In the King's Field Additional I and II guide at http://www002.upp.so-net.ne.jp/trehaos/ it mentions ギーラ as being the last boss in Additional I and the 2nd to last boss in Additional II. The Japanese translation with Google and Babelfish for "ギーラ" is "gira". That's too close to "guyra" to be a translation coincidence, besides it being a big black dragon on the screen that looks like a super version of the PSOne King's Field's Guyra.

In King's Field Additional II, It mentions the last boss as 光と闇の竜 <- Light and Darkness Dragon ? is immediately after "lien" and "gira". Perhaps something I missed with not getting the moonlight sword. Could "lien" be Seath?

The "robber king" on Additional I is who you get the Moonlight Sword from. You can obviously see its form (looks like the lawful blade) from the cutscenes he's in.

The "returned robber king" in Additional II, I'd put money on it, is that bratty prince you get the Dark Slayer from. He looks irked throughout all the cutscenes in the game.
