What the hell kind of problem do they have with Agetec? Agetec gave the AC community an actual say in what happened with the games. The community wanted bugs fixed, Agetec fixed them. The community had new part ideas, some of the ideas made it in. Agetec even made Formula Front playable. Agetec was nothing but good to the AC community. I cant think of any other US publisher that would help the US fans have a say in the creation of a Japanese game.

Has ACO helped market the game at all? I'm guessing "no". It's probably just some BS move Sega did to try and win over their support.

As for ACO not getting any recognition, that's BS. Turel Azure, former ACO staff is an admin here. dude talked to David Silviera all the time. its because of that link that so many of Nexus' bugs got fixed before the US release. One of their staff members was in direct contact with Agetec. that's pretty big. ACO itself was never given any official "recognition" by Agetec, like a link on the website or anything like that, but Sega is guilty of the same.

Of course, every member of this forum already knows this.

Not that I'm hating on Sega in any way, the approach they're taking with AC4 is awesome. the From Software interviews, the entire community site they have set up shows that they're serious about this game. Yeah, agetec never did anything like Sega did on the web for the AC series, but Agetec's a very small company with very limited resources. Both Agetec and Sega are great companies that have/are showing AC every bit of respect the series deserves.
