Ah yes. I had heard of this game a while ago, but wasn't sure what it was all about. But transforming mecha and mixing AC with Shadow of the Colossus-like missions and online co-op? Now you've got my attention.
It also looks like this game will be like previous expansions where you can import your previous save. I see some returning faces on the website as well as a screen with "Import" on it. AC4 needed more parts in general. I just wonder how transforming parts will work? And OMFG! One of the ACs has a giant, arm-mounted gattling gun! I thought the one in AC4 was good enough, but now there's an even bigger one! Hell yeah. And quad laser cannons on a single shoulder? Kick @#%$. Now I'm just wondering if I should import from Japan or not. The main problem I've had with Sega is their total lack of regard for keeping the PS3 version up to date with the 360 version. They blame it on Sony for having to approve updates, but why is it that the UK releases are only a couple weeks behind the Japanese updates and it still isn't up to date in the US? You can only point the finger at Sony so much, Sega. I wish Agetec would pick it up again because they at least understood the fanbase over here. I'm just not very eager to not have any idea of what I'm supposed to do in missions or what anyone is saying. Besides that, most of the stats are in Japanese as well. I'm not too eager to have to translate them all myself. Besides, how does it work when you import the game? I assume you have to create a Japanese PSN account in order to get updates? How involved is that? |

Well I've done some digging over at www.armoredcoreonline.com like I used to. They've got a ton of information I'd like to share.
Here are a few things of interest: 1. It seems transforming parts are only partially transforming. White Glint has boosters that fold out of the core (possibly a more-powerful OB) and the head closes into it. It's shown in the movie equipped with the Vanguard OverBoost (VOB) unit equipped, which gives it those giant engines. Then it swings its arms forward and legs backward for "flight mode". So, while not a full transformation, it's pretty interesting. It also seems it only transforms like this during OB and if you use all the original parts. But I think the parts can be used separately like any other AC, it just doesn't sound like it'll transform. 2. Assault Armor is a new feature that lets you basically overload your Primal Armor in an explosion that consumes all your KP energy (much like the Omni-Directional Barrier overload of the SDF-1 Macross). It looks like it's pretty devastating. 3. Twice as many parts. Back-mount chainguns are back and there's a new arm-mounted chaingun (my personal fav). There's also what looks like a revolver grenade launcher among many others. 4. All buttons are fully customizable, including the directional pad. This should mean that vets can create nearly complete classic controls. However, I don't know how you're going to work in quick boosting and changing the left side weapons. Seems like you'll have to resort to moving the analog sticks for other functions. 5. In addition to auto-aim and auto-boost options is an auto-purge option, which I assume will automatically drop a part when it is empty. Very nice, indeed. I can't tell you how many times I forget to purge a part and keep trying to fire it when it's empty. 6. HUD customization in terms of color and even the ability to change the radar type to classic style. 7. Full voice chat for both Xbox 360 players AND PS3 players (not between each other, obviously). 8. DualShock 3 support for PS3 version. 9. Multiple endings. 10. You can convert Schematics and paint data, but not what parts you have purchased nor credits. Looks like everyone is starting over again, but still can build your AC again when you have enough credits. 11. PS3 version allows installation to the hard drive. 12. You are now asked after the mission briefing if you wish to start the mission yet, so you can change your setup accordingly before you launch like in the old games. I'm hooked. Count me in. I was afraid at first that it was gonna go all happy Valk dream transform into a tank mid mission but it seems its just a transformation to be more streamlined, which is k.

All the mechs I looked at looked wierd. But, If the PS3 were in my budget, I would get it. Unfortunately for me, I can't afford it at this time. Maybe later the PS3 will drop in price again.

From Software has no say in whether this game comes to the US or not.
Sega was the publisher for AC4, so you'd have to ask them if they were going to release this. Agetec hasnt said a word to me about picking the AC series back up. When they passed on 4, all they said was that they weren't doing "this title", not that they were done with the series for good. I'd like to imagine that if sega passes on this game, then agetec would pick it up. but the AC series is very expensive to license, so it's really anyone's guess. |

picture instead of a premade map. my thouths r that it shows good potantial and it may not show up in america because of teh lack of us players.....ive got
both xbox and ps3 and not that many people show up ... if anyting i hope that agetec comes back around and takes over segas place ...(begs and prays).. lots of

Not to be mean or anyhting, I know this is th agetec forums and all, but the last thing I want is for agetec to become armored cores publisher once again. I really don't feel like waiting a whole year for the game to come out in america after japan already has another one. This will also cause there to be less people online seeing as the Japanese will be on the new game and Americans will be on the old one. |

First of all, who announced that date? Who is "They"? I keep checking various sources for release date information and none of the official sources
have posted anything as far as I've seen. Please cite your source. Secondly, at least Agetec cared about the series. Sega forgot about it after a couple
months and hasn't released regulation updates since last summer. There have been I believe 3 updates since then. All they've done is pointed the finger
at Sony saying they have to approve it, but it's been months since then and there's still nothing. Sega may have gotten it out faster, but they've
still dropped the ball big time. Speaking of which, because of the regulation disparity, the Japanese already have been on a different game as the differences
make it pretty much impossible to play on the same level. I hardly call that any better.

I play on xbox360, so I don't have the regulation problems you have. Why would sega release the regulations for 360 and not PS3? That wouldn't make sense... Sony probably didn't make much off the game so they didn't care to look at the update and figured they had better things to do. We got a release every month on 360 up to regulations 1.6. Even if you don't get to play with Japanese players, you still get to play with American players. I rather get a little bs and be playing the game three months after the Japanese release then waiting a whole year to get the game. |
